By paying close attention to language and the issue of selectivity, it is suggested that flags for the crossover from legitimate criticism to ‘anti-Israelism’ and ‘neo-antisemitism’ can be identified. These phenomena are explained in relation to the legacy of historic antisemitism in Europe and European attempts to deal with past guilt.
