The article highlights the early adoption of the internet by Islamist and far right groups as a tool to promote their beliefs and direct their activities nationally and trans-nationally. Commonalities in their use of the medium for the  promotion of propaganda and incitement, and in the occasional support for each other’s ideological themes and actions are suggested. Antisemitism in German political and public discourse is considered with a particular emphasis on media representations of Israel, Zionism and Jews. The presence of both traditional and newer forms of antisemitic discourse that relate to myths of Jewish conspiracy, the demonisation of Israel and Jews, and to the ideological link with anti-Americanism are highlighted. It is suggested that ‘resentiment’ of Germany’s Nazi past, and in particular the desire to reverse the roles and see Israel and Jews as perpetrators rather than victims plays a central role in the contemporary manifestation of German antisemitism.
